Inspiring Summer Experiences Put Innsbruck On The City-Break Map

10/08/2018

Summer in the city of Innsbruck is vibrant, cultured and quite simply unmissable. From world-class summer ski-jump practise to glittering Swarovski events, the eclectic magical mix is a must.  Here are three holiday highlights to make your stay in the Capital of the Alps an unforgettable experience.

  1. Towering high above Innsbruck is the stunning Bergisel Ski Jump tower – and in summer it is alive with activity. Some of the world’s top ski-jumpers take to the slope to practise their daredevil sport – a true sight to behold. Its panoramic viewing platforms provide incredible vistas over the entire city, while the stylish restaurant is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch or a coffee and cake stop. Visit bergisel.info

  1. Summer at Swarovski Crystal Worlds has to be seen to be believed. Each year the home of the world-famous jewellery is transformed into a themed wonderland, which is a highlight for visitors to the city. This year, acclaimed British artist Simon Costin has been commissioned to create a fairy-tale “Enchanted Garden” which connects the stunning gardens with the Chambers of Wonder galleries.  Expect talking plants, shrunken garden houses and giant gnomes as well as daily activities and experiences to delight children and adults alike. Insider tip: the on-site Daniels restaurant is a beautiful place to dine – and on Thursdays there are live DJ sets from 5pm-10pm. Visit kristallwelten.swarovski.com/

  1. Take a walk on the wild side. A unique aspect of a visit to Innsbruck is that you are just minutes from the mountains and some seriously stunning walks. To ensure you see the best of the mountains, Innsbruck Tourism run free (with a Welcome Card*) hikes with qualified guides, every weekday until 26 October, 2018. Visitors can enjoy 1,220 km of hiking trails in the mountains surrounding the city, call at rustic mountain huts, learn about Tyrolean natural highlights and even collect reward badges for their hiking achievements.
